A hyaluronic acid filler is used to add volume around the penile shaft. The aim is a change in circumference. The erectile bodies are not enlarged; this procedure does not treat erectile dysfunction and is not a reliable method of lengthening.
Unlike fat transfer, it does not require liposuction. That does not remove the need for an examination, a discussion of risks or a period of reduced activity. Even small injection sites can be associated with medically significant complications.
The consultation covers your expectations, previous procedures and general health. Previously used fillers or other materials, inflammation, scars and symptoms affecting the skin or foreskin are particularly important. Tell us about medication and bring records of earlier treatments.
The examination should also establish whether this procedure can appropriately address your concern. Any acute symptoms need assessment before a cosmetic change is considered. If significant concern about your body image is the main issue, psychological support may be more helpful than an injection.
After examination, counselling and individual planning, a hyaluronic acid filler is placed and distributed in the intended tissue around the penile shaft. The treatment is also called penile filler injections or penile filler treatment. It adds volume outside the erectile bodies.
Anaesthesia, the product and the amount are discussed beforehand. It is also important to consider the intended use of the specific product. A filler's use in other parts of the body does not, on its own, establish its suitability for every application at the penis.
Treatment of the glans is distinct from shaft girth enhancement. It concerns a different area and requires a separate indication, discussion and consent process. It is not an automatic part of the treatment described here.

Hyaluronic acid fillers break down over time. How long a visible effect lasts depends on factors including the material and the individual's response. Results from individual studies cannot be taken as a longevity guarantee for every treatment. An initially visible increase in circumference may also partly reflect swelling.
A further treatment may be considered, but it is not an automatic next step. The current findings, remaining material and any symptoms must first be assessed. Repeat treatments are not without risk. A particular increase in centimetres or a permanently unchanged result is not promised.
Randomised studies have compared hyaluronic acid with polylactic acid fillers. They report changes in circumference in selected participants using specific products. A study published in 2019 followed outcomes over 48 weeks; another study, published in 2022, assessed results after 24 weeks.
Each compared two treatments, rather than a treatment with an untreated control group. The results therefore cannot be readily applied to every product, every patient or longer periods. They do not rule out rare complications. Professional organisations emphasise the limited evidence and the importance of careful counselling.

Swelling, bruising, a feeling of pressure and pain may occur. Inflammation, infection, lumps, uneven contours or unwanted distribution of the material are also possible. A published clinical study reported complications including nodules, bleeding under the skin and infections following hyaluronic acid injections.
Serious tissue damage is also a potential risk of filler treatments. Ask how the practice identifies and treats complications. Any correction or dissolving treatment that may be needed is a medical intervention with its own limitations and risks, not a promise that every unwanted effect can be easily reversed.
You will receive individual advice on hygiene, reduced activity, follow-up appointments and returning to sport and sexual activity. Massaging the area yourself or having additional injections is not an appropriate response to irregularities. Any area that remains unusual or changes should be assessed by a doctor.
Seek immediate medical assessment for: severe or increasing pain, pale or darkly discoloured skin, rapidly increasing swelling or difficulty passing urine. Fever, marked redness or discharge also requires prompt medical assessment. Do not wait for your next planned follow-up appointment if these changes occur.
Plan your aftercare before treatment, particularly if you are travelling to Berlin. After leaving the practice, you should know which medical service you can contact if problems occur.
Hyaluronic acid does not require fat harvesting and has a temporary effect. Fat transfer requires liposuction, and long-term volume retention cannot be reliably predicted. Both methods aim to change circumference. Surgical penile lengthening has a different aim and different risks.

Both procedures aim to change shaft circumference. Hyaluronic acid treatment uses a filler that breaks down over time. Fat transfer requires liposuction first; the proportion of fat that remains in the long term varies between individuals.
The decision depends on factors including your expectations, tissue characteristics and previous treatments. Treatment without fat harvesting still requires counselling and aftercare. No method is risk-free or better for everyone.

You will receive personal advice on reduced activity and follow-up appointments. Factors include swelling, the tissue response and healing of the injection sites. Follow your doctor's recommendation; a small access point does not mean the area is immediately ready for unrestricted activity.
A pain-free treatment cannot be promised. The planned anaesthesia is discussed beforehand. Pressure, pain, swelling or bruising are possible; severe or increasing symptoms require prompt medical assessment.
