Lip fillerswith hyaluronic acid in Berlin

Your lips are part of your expression. If you would like more definition or a little more volume, we will discuss what suits your face – and the limitations of treatment.

Medical consultations are subject to a fee. The cost of your treatment is discussed individually during your consultation.

Lip enhancement: the key distinction

Hyaluronic acid lip fillers can change fullness or definition at the lip border. They do not shorten the skin between the nose and upper lip, nor do they automatically treat downturned mouth corners. At our Berlin practice, planning therefore starts with your particular concern, not a preset quantity of filler.

Your wishes

Not more at any cost. A change that suits you.

Lip filler treatment uses a hyaluronic acid filler to adjust lip volume or definition. The consultation considers not just your lips, but their relationship to your nose, chin and face as a whole.

You may wish for a slightly more defined lip border, or your lips may have lost fullness over time. The changes that are appropriate depend on your anatomy, your tissues and any previous treatments. Perfect symmetry or a particular result cannot be promised.

Our planning is guided by your individual findings and wishes, not a fixed volume or a reference photograph. Choosing not to have treatment may also be the right decision.

Definition, volume or upper-lip length: what would you like to change?

“My lips are too thin” can mean different things. You may find the border indistinct, want more fullness in the coloured part of the lip, or feel that the skin between the nose and upper lip looks long. These concerns do not automatically call for the same treatment.

Try to describe exactly what bothers you: your upper lip at rest, the side view, or the relationship between your lips when smiling? A photograph can help explain your preferences. It cannot provide a shape that can simply be transferred to another face.

Asymmetry is something to assess, not an automatic reason to add more filler. It matters whether the difference existed before treatment and whether it is most noticeable at rest or in movement. The aim of consultation is a clear, reasoned plan, not a mathematically perfect lip.

Before deciding

Could lip filler treatment be right for you?

Suitability is assessed in a personal examination. Please tell us about previous injections, existing fillers, allergies, medical conditions and medication. These details belong in a confidential medical consultation, not a public form.

Injections are not performed in an area with inflammation or an active cold sore. If you frequently have cold sores, mention this in advance. We do not perform aesthetic hyaluronic acid treatments during pregnancy. Breastfeeding and other contraindications require medical assessment beforehand.

Do not stop prescribed medication on your own. Your doctor will discuss whether any particular preparation is needed.

Already have lip filler? Assessment comes before another injection.

If your lips have been treated before, bring the product name, treatment date and any records you have. Mention whether you are unhappy with the shape or have experienced tenderness, firm areas or recurrent swelling. Knowing it was hyaluronic acid is a useful starting point, but does not replace the full history.

Adding volume is not automatically the answer to an irregularity. First, what you can see or feel needs assessment, including whether a reaction or another complication is present. Previous treatment remains relevant even if it was some time ago.

Correcting or removing existing material is a separate clinical decision. It cannot be promised in every case or presented as a risk-free way back. Do not buy products for self-treatment or try to remove lumps through forceful massage.

Step by step

How we plan your treatment

Before treatment: clarify the change you would like and the features you want to keep.

01 · Listen and examine. What would you like to change? We discuss your expectations, assess your lips and explain alternatives, limitations and risks.

02 · Decide together. The approach, extent of treatment and suitable pain relief are planned individually. Lips are sensitive, and treatment can still be uncomfortable with pain relief. A fixed filler volume is not appropriate for every face.

03 · Treat and follow up. After explanation and informed consent, treatment takes place under hygienic conditions. You receive aftercare advice and information on follow-up and how to contact the practice if you have concerns.

Understanding the result

Give your lips time

Your lips may be swollen immediately after treatment. This first impression should not be confused with the settled result. Avoid arranging treatment immediately before an important personal or professional occasion.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are not permanent. How long a change remains visible depends on factors including the product, treatment area and individual course. Any repeat treatment is considered after assessment, not according to a fixed schedule.

Follow your individual aftercare advice about exercise, heat, make-up and touching your lips. Do not massage or press the treated area without medical instructions. If you are unsure, please contact the practice.

When can the result be assessed meaningfully?

A change is visible immediately after treatment, but this is not a reliable final assessment. Swelling and bruising can affect the shape. An apparent difference between the sides should not prompt another injection solely on the basis of a photograph taken straight after treatment.

At review, discuss how your lips feel as well as how they look: are there areas that bother you, tenderness, or changes when speaking and smiling? An uncomplicated recovery without warning signs is different from new or worsening symptoms. The warning signs in the next section always take priority over a scheduled review.

Duration in months is a guide, not a fixed expiry date. The practice gives a general range of three months to a year for hyaluronic acid treatments; this is not a personal prediction for your lips. Repeat treatment depends on assessment and your wishes, not simply the passing of a calendar interval.

Important information

A small procedure is not risk-free

Possible effects include swelling, bruising, pain, infection, lumps and asymmetry. Rarely, filler can block a blood vessel, potentially causing tissue damage and loss of vision.

Severe or increasing pain, unusually pale or mottled skin, or visual changes need immediate medical assessment. Do not wait for a routine follow-up. Call 112 for visual disturbances or other severe acute symptoms.

Choosing an approach

Lip fillers or a lip lift?

Fillers and a surgical lip lift have different aims. Injections may be considered when the main concern is volume or definition. A bullhorn lip lift surgically changes the distance between the nose and upper lip. These procedures are not interchangeable.

If lines around the mouth are your main concern, adding volume to the lip itself is not automatically the answer. Our broader wrinkle-treatment information helps put different concerns into context. We also discuss when another approach, or no treatment, may be more appropriate.

Which concern needs which assessment?

Your concernWhat needs to be considered
More fullness or a clearer lip borderHyaluronic acid fillers change volume or definition. Suitability and extent depend on your existing lip shape.
A long distance between the nose and upper lipA surgical bullhorn lip lift changes this distance. Fillers and surgery have different aims and risks.
Downturned mouth cornersMuscle pull, tissues and volume loss need to be distinguished. More lip volume is not a universal answer.
Folds running from the nose to the mouth cornersNasolabial folds lie outside the coloured lip and need their own assessment.
Uncertainty about changing anythingA consultation can also end with a decision not to have treatment.

Questions worth bringing to your consultation

What would you like to change, and what would you like to keep? You might note that you do not want visibly larger lips, or that one area of the border is your main concern. Ask which part of your goal seems achievable with filler and which part it would not address.

Before deciding, also ask about the proposed material, pain relief, expected reactions, how to contact the practice with concerns and when a review would be useful. Mention upcoming dental work, an infection or an important occasion when arranging treatment.

Consultations take place at Finke & Frantzen, Heinrich-Roller-Straße 15 in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. The medical consultation carries a fee but does not commit you to injections. We discuss the scope and cost of possible treatment individually; this page does not prescribe prices or a fixed filler volume.

Frequently asked questions about lip fillers

Do my lips have to look noticeably larger afterwards?

No. The consultation may focus on a subtle change in definition. Whether your wishes can be met appropriately depends on your examination. A particular appearance cannot be guaranteed.

Can I attend an important event straight afterwards?

Swelling and bruising may be visible. Allow a buffer and discuss suitable timing with the practice beforehand.

Is treatment suitable for women and men?

Consultations are available to women and men. Anatomy, health and personal wishes matter more than a uniform beauty ideal.

Can previously treated lips be treated again?

This needs individual assessment. Tell us when, where and with which product you were treated, if you know. Further injections are not automatically the right solution.

How much do lip fillers cost?

Costs are explained individually during your consultation after examination and treatment planning. We do not publish prices on this page. Medical consultations also carry a fee.

How do I arrange a consultation?

Book through our appointments page or call +49 30 473 770 24. The practice is at Heinrich-Roller-Straße 15, 10405 Berlin.

How much filler do my lips need?

A photograph or a desired size cannot reliably answer this. Lip shape, existing material and treatment goals need assessment first. A particular number of millilitres is not a measure of quality or an appropriate starting point for every face.

Are Russian lips automatically the right technique?

A trend name does not establish whether a shape suits your anatomy. Ask for an explanation of the specific approach, its limits and risks. The individual plan matters more than a promise to reproduce a social-media look.

What should I do about a lump after lip filler?

Do not squeeze it, massage it forcefully or treat it with additional products yourself. Seek a clinical assessment, particularly if there is pain, redness or renewed swelling. Severe worsening pain, unusual skin colour or visual symptoms need immediate medical help.

Can I simply have existing filler dissolved?

A correction needs clinical assessment. The material, symptoms and findings determine the approach; removal or reduction can carry risks too. Treatment cannot be promised to be freely and safely reversible.

Are needle-free hyaluron pens a safe alternative?

Needle-free does not mean risk-free. The US Food and Drug Administration reports serious adverse events involving needle-free filler devices and advises against their use. A hyaluron pen should therefore not be considered a harmless alternative to medical treatment. Do not apply fillers yourself; have suitability, material and technique assessed by a clinician.

What would you like for your lips?

We take time for your questions and discuss openly what is possible, the limitations and whether treatment is appropriate for you.

Medical consultations are subject to a fee. The cost of your treatment is discussed individually during your consultation.
