Skin that has been overstretched — by pregnancy, by weight loss, by time — does not retract on its own. Tightening operations remove what is left over. Unlike liposuction, they treat the envelope rather than the contents.

Where the excess of skin is genuinely large, only a tummy tuck will do. Where skin and fat are both moderate, BodyTite can do both at once. Where the skin is still firm, liposuction on its own is enough — and the smallest of the three.

Skin tightening operations remove excess skin that no longer retracts by itself — on the abdomen, upper arms, thighs and buttocks. They treat the covering, not the volume underneath.
Two findings look similar in the mirror and need opposite treatments. If the skin is still elastic and only the volume is in the way, liposuction is the answer, and the skin will re-drape on its own. If the skin has already lost its elasticity, taking the volume out makes it hang more — then it has to be removed.
The pinch test settles it in seconds: lift a fold and let go. Skin that snaps back does not need tightening. Skin that stays put does. We do this in the first consultation, and it is why a reliable recommendation cannot be given over e-mail.
The abdomen is the most common request, but the same principle applies elsewhere — and after major weight loss it usually applies in several places at once.
Where several areas are involved, we usually stage them rather than do everything at once. Long operations and large wound surfaces carry more risk, and the results are better when the body has recovered in between.
After completed family planning, several procedures can sensibly be combined in one operation: usually a tummy tuck together with breast surgery — a lift, an augmentation or both — and often liposuction of the flanks to finish the contour.
The argument for combining is one anaesthetic, one recovery and one period off work rather than two. The argument against is a longer operation and a bigger single insult to the body.
Dr. Finke presented on this combination of breast and intimate surgery at the 2026 annual meeting of the VDÄPC. What is sensible in your case — and what is better done in two steps — is something we will tell you honestly, including when the answer is “not in one go”.
There is no flat rate. Time in theatre, technique, anaesthetic and the extent of the procedure differ from person to person, and combined procedures are priced as a whole rather than added up. You get a binding quote at the end of your consultation, in writing, with nothing hidden.
Will insurance pay? As a rule, no — tightening operations are usually aesthetic. The exception is after major weight loss, where a skin fold causes repeated inflammation that is documented by a doctor: then an application to a German statutory insurer is realistic. We support you with the documentation; the decision is your insurer’s.

Until your weight has been stable for at least six months. If you carry on losing, new excess skin forms and the operation would have been too early.

Yes — that is the honest answer. Tightening means removing skin, and removing skin means a scar. Where we can, we place it in a crease or under the underwear line. On the upper arm that is not possible, and we say so before you decide.
