Yes. Consultations and treatments are available in English, German and Spanish – both with the doctors and with the practice team at the front desk. Many international patients living in Berlin choose the practice for exactly this reason.

The initial consultation takes place in person at the practice at Heinrich-Roller-Straße 15 in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg – and we take ample time for it. You tell us what you have in mind, then the relevant area is examined. Dr. Finke or Dr. Frantzen explain the suitable procedures, their limits, the typical risks and the scarring to be expected. You receive an individual written cost estimate. A deliberate reflection period lies between the informed-consent consultation and the operation.

Surgery is performed by the practice’s board-certified plastic surgeons: Dr. Juliane C. Finke, Dr. Stephan Frantzen or Gustavo Saravia. Consultation, procedure and aftercare stay in the same hands – your treating doctor accompanies you from the first visit to the final follow-up examination.

The focus lies on breast surgery (breast augmentation with implants or autologous fat, breast lift, breast reduction, implant exchange), on tightening procedures (tummy tuck, arm and thigh lift, BodyTite), on liposuction and on facial surgery (facelift, eyelid surgery, thread lift, bullhorn lip lift, wrinkle treatment, fat-dissolving injections). Intimate surgery for women and men completes the spectrum. Male patients are seen in a dedicated men’s clinic.

The cost depends on the chosen procedure, its extent, the type of anaesthesia and whether an overnight stay is required – quoting a flat price up front would be misleading. After the initial consultation and examination you receive a written cost estimate itemising everything: surgery, anaesthesia, materials, aftercare and follow-up appointments. Purely aesthetic procedures are self-pay services; where there is a medical indication, we jointly review possible insurance coverage.

Purely aesthetic procedures are generally self-pay services and are covered neither by statutory nor by private health insurance. Where there is a medical indication – for example breast reconstruction after cancer, gynecomastia, or excess skin with recurring inflammation after major weight loss – coverage can be reviewed. Whether an indication applies in your case is clarified in the initial consultation; you always receive a written cost estimate.

Healing varies individually. As a guide: swelling and bruising peak in the first one to two weeks and subside noticeably afterwards. Most patients feel comfortable being seen in public again after about two to three weeks. Physical exertion, sport and sauna should be paused for around six weeks. Several months pass before the final result is reached and the scars have matured. A reliable assessment for your case is only possible after a personal examination.

As with any operation there are general risks such as bleeding, infection, wound-healing problems and anaesthesia risks. Specific to breast augmentation with implants are, among others, capsular contracture (a hardening of the connective-tissue capsule around the implant), visible or palpable implant edges, asymmetries, changes in nipple and breast-skin sensitivity, and the possibility that an implant exchange becomes necessary in the course of a lifetime. Dr. Finke has lectured on capsular contracture – implant, position and indication – at the Berlin-Brandenburg Surgical Society (BCG) annual meeting. All risks are explained thoroughly and in good time before the procedure.
